Great On-Job Experience

Worlds of Fun offers a unique atmosphere in which you can gain valuable hands-on experience in your chosen field. Many seasonal jobs are modified to meet internship requirements at your school.  All internships are paid and are eligible for bonus incentives. Hours range from about 20 to 40 hours per week. Most positions require some evenings, weekends, and five to six days per week during the summer. 

Internship Opportunities:

Human Resources

Human Resources Assistant

Assists in the overall HR function. Includes recruiting; orientation and training; retention, motivation, and incentive programs; interviewing and placement; employee activities; and coordinating Fun Raiser program. Positions available January through May and May through October.

Marketing / Sales / Public Relations

Public Relations Assistant 

Assists in developing, coordinating, and analyzing various public relations events and special promotions. Includes radio promotions, press releases, media communications, and guest surveys. Positions available April through October.
Group Sales Assistant

Assists with the establishment and coordination of various group events and activities. Includes conceptualization, implementation and analysis of school events, PTA programs, consignment accounts, company picnics, and other group programs. Position available February through October.

Accounting / Finance

Cash Control Assistant

Assists in determining, verifying, and depositing the receipts of cashiers. Includes auditing, data entry, reconciliation, till issue & collection, bank deposit preparation and operating currency sorters/counters. Positions available April through October and May through Labor Day.
Revenue Control / Data Processor Assistant

Assists in the auditing, entry and output of daily revenue and attendance reports. Includes register/till audits, data entry, ticket reconciliation, attendance reporting, revenue/per capita review and report distribution. Positions available April through October.
Accounting Assistant

Assists in the overall Finance Department function. Includes bank account reconciliation, data entry, journal entry and filing. Positions available March through October and April through October.
Internal Auditor Assistant 

Assists in the testing of accounting, financial, and operational internal controls. Includes regular audits of payroll, bids, tickets, labor compliance, public accounting compliance, inventory, accounts payable, and cash handling. Positions available May through September.

Retail Operations

Foods Management Assistant

Assists in the management of individual or multiple, quick service locations. Also available in full-service restaurant. Includes employee management, operational management, scheduling, food ordering, cost control, motivation. Staff ranges from 10-40 employees. Practical experience in a high-volume setting. Assists in catered events from 50-15,000 guests. Management of employees, cost control, motivation, communication with other departments, and some scheduling and food ordering. Manages 20-40 employees. Positions available March through October.
Merchandise / Games Management Assistant

Assists in managing individual gift shops or games areas. Includes merchandising; inventory control; employee training, scheduling, and motivation; and cost control. Units range in size from 1 to 15 employees. Practical retail management experience in a high volume setting. Positions available March through October.
Retail Auditor Assistant

Assists Retail  and Finance employees in balancing daily revenue. Conducts cashier training classes. Assists in tracking employee performance and coordinates with Security on investigations. Positions available March through October.
Warehouse Management Assistant

Assists with the receiving, storage and distribution of product along with  tracking inventory and cost of sales. Manages 10-30 employees including scheduling, and motivation. Positions available March through October.

Security / Safety

Park Ranger

Assists in the overall Security Department function. Includes park security and safety, revenue management, traffic management, law enforcement on park properties, first aid, fire protection, surveillance and covert camera installation. Must be able to pass commissioning requirements of the KCMO Board of Police Commissioners. Positions available February through October.
Safety Assistant

Assists in maintaining the safety of all guests and employees.  Includes auditing, training, regulatory compliance, emergency response and planning, worker's compensation, accident investigation, and complaint resolution.  Must have excellent communication skills, ability to make decisions under pressure, and basic knowledge of federal OSHA and Missouri worker's compensation regulations.  One position available March through October. 

Park Operations

Ride Operations Management Assistant

Assists in managing individual ride operations crews in the safe, clean, courteous, and efficient operation of one or more ride locations. Duties include completion of daily efficiency tracking paperwork, safety inspections, scheduling of employees, employee motivation, and handling any and all guest concerns at the location. Crews range in size from 13 to 35 employees running 1 to 6 ride locations. Must be comfortable working with large crowds while maintaining a cool, calm, and courteous demeanor. Positions available March through October.
Park Services Management Assistant

Assists in managing one or more crews in the Park Services department in ensuring a clean and safe environment for park guests and employees. Duties include ensuring quality control in cleanliness of park restrooms, midways, and other guest and employee facilities, tracking park services inventory, assisting in purchasing park services supplies, scheduling and motivation of restrooms and environmental service crews, and handling any and all guest concerns necessary. This is an extremely high guest contact position. Positions available March through October.
Aquatics Management Assistant

Manages a complex of aquatic locations.  Includes management, scheduling and motivation of employees, chemical testing, and continual safety training.  Areas range in size from 20 to 40 employees.  Employees with two or more years of experience at Oceans of Fun could apply for Internships that also include budgeting, retention programs, and training development.  Must have a valid Ellis and Associates Lifeguard or Lifeguard Instructor License.  Positions available May through September.

Internship Wages

With Our Total Wage Package, You Could Earn $8 Per Hour!

  • 18 & Over $8 ($7 per hour + $1*Bonus)
  • Many interns also qualify for a monthly housing allowance

*Eligible employees who have fulfilled their Employment Agreements receive an additional $1.00 for each hour worked during the bonus period. Overtime hours are excluded. Ask one of our recruiters for more details.

Grooming Guidelines

Faddish, extreme hairstyles, including (but not limited to) multi-color or unnatural color, sculptured hair, partially shaved heads and dreadlocks are not permitted for all employees. Tattoos are not permitted to be visible to our guests.

Males:

A neat haircut is a must at Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun. Styling should be tapered at the sides and back so that the lower one-half of the ear is visible and the back is no longer than the top of a normal shirt collar. Employees should be clean shaven daily. No beards or goatees are allowed. Neatly groomed mustaches that do not extend below the corners of the mouth are permitted. No earrings are allowed.

Females:

Hair should be well-groomed and neatly arranged. Those who prefer long hair should take special care so that it will not fall forward or over the face while performing job duties.

Uniforms:

Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun provide free uniforms to all ambassadors. For most jobs, athletic support shoes are required. Shoes must be clean and in good repair.
