Beer School Instructor - Jim Quinn

Jim Quinn (aka "The Beer Jockey") was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He began a thirteen year career with Miller Brewing Company in 1980. Marketing research, industry analysis and sales promotion were among his roles. Jim contributed to new product launches such as Miller Genuine Draft and was involved with the Leinenkugel Brewing Company acquisition.

He likes to say that he did his best industry research at his family's Irish Pub in downtown Milwaukee, as well as at the city’s numerous taverns, German hall's, and Volkfests.

Quinn served as Marketing Director for Miami Trail Brewery, a Dayton, Ohio craft beer producer with a nice Pale Ale and excellent Dopplebock, for two years.

Currently living in Kansas City, he frequently teaches beer classes and leads tasting sessions for the University of Missouri Kansas City's Communiversity program. Jim also conducts Hometown Beer Bus tours which visit local breweries, brewpubs, the areas finest beer emporiums, and historic beer sites.
