A Spring-like Day

Greetings everyone!

Its so nice out! I took the opportunity to run out into the park and grab a few shots of the happenings. I'll share those in a minute. First, here are some updates regarding the new worldsoffun.com stemmed from emails, blog comments, and forum questions.

The new site is a work in progress, so some things like Alumni Junction will take a bit to get back online. Also, we will have a mobile site and a mobile app, and they will have Facebook and Twitter integrated right in them. So, when you are out in the park using the app, you can post how awesome my hair was when I walked by, or like a Prowler ride rating or something. Obviously one is more important than the other in that scenario.

Also, did you check out that you can click the Oceans of Fun logo for an Oceans site? Sweet!

Oh, and be sure to check out the new cart and online ticketing this spring as we add meal specials, upgrades, and more. I add more functionality, images, and content to the new site almost every day so check it out often!

Ok, now on to the park. There is some action happening out there due to the nice weather, so that is fun. It feels very spring-y out! First thing, Wacky Worm has had its name changed to Cosmic Coaster, and its going to look amazing in its new home! We're in the process of clearing the old kid train site to make room. Its a larger plot than I expected, and will make a nice showpiece for when you enter Planet Snoopy. You can also see in this photo that Wolf's backside is getting some attention. :)

On down the path, one thing I noticed throughout the park is a lot of new roofs and woodwork in general. Check out a little entrance love for Timber Wolf.

Here is some action! These guys are blasting Monsoon, which gets a paintjob this year.

Speaking of that area, the Ride & Slide gate will soon be no more, and we're going to re-work that entrance a little bit. You'll still have access to both parks right there, but the pathways will be changed.

Oh, and the big one! This will bring a tear of joy to a lot of people that read this blog, but Boomerang will also receive new paint in the next few weeks.

I'll be back later to share some more details on fun things like the new shows and the new food offerings. A couple of quick hints....the new night country show at Country Junction (dog show stage) will feature a live band! Sweet! Also, the Clements are back this year with a real dog and pony show!

Have a good afternoon!

I'm really loving the attention to detail this off season! It shows how much work there is to accomplish during the off seasons! Thanks for the update Brandon! P.S. Glad to see Timberwolf is getting some more TLC this off season! BRANDON: Yes, its getting a lot of attention. The station is going to look great! I'll show it off as the work continues.

Is the Thunderhawlk going to be fixed and working on a regular basis this year? Last year and the year before, as a season pass holder, I was only at the park one time when it was open and that was in 2010. What is the holdup? BRANDON: It was open pretty consistently towards the end of last season and it will be ready to roll this year.

Are there any other pathways in mind that are being altered/fixed? I heard that there is some work being done by Nile. BRANDON: I haven't noticed anything over there but then again I haven't really been looking for it. I think its business as usual in that area.

LOVE IT!!!!!! So glad you're bring the Country Junction back!!!! My son can't wait to see the pony!! Was sort of worried that the Tivoli was going to be country this year. Relieved that isn't the case. Thanks!!!!!!! April 14th come soon! Do you know what else would be cool? The Starbeam music machine !!!! Dollywood had something like it, but had a live show on stage and supplemented the show with old clips, like the Starbeam had. A DJ is always fun too. BRANDON: Country Junction will sort of be the new home of the Tivoli Show. Its outdoors, and right in a high traffic area. Should be fun!

In your next post will you please tell us more about the Ride and Slide Gate! And how you THINK we can enter both parks because I have been a Golden Pass holder for 3 or 4 years and I know my way around so I am very curious to find out how your going to work it out! BRANDON: There will be a new path just past the Oceans of Fun turnstiles that leads back down towards the old Ride & Slide gate and up towards Mamba. There won't be that much difference. The sidewalk that exists now from the OOF parking / gate area to the Ride & Slide gate will be removed.

What's going to be in the Tivoli Music Hall this season? BRANDON: We'll use it for our Music Festival and Dance Festival in the spring, and then for large groups in the summer, and perhaps a concert or two. Then, Skullduggery in the fall.
