Six Halloween Haunt Details You Maybe Missed

Halloween Haunt at Worlds of Fun is like Halloween Heaven. The heavy fog floats in the air as towering skeletons greet you at the entrance. Ahead, meandering midways weave through morbid décor, scare zones and thrill rides. Over 400 Screamsters and ghouls creep throughout the darkness and hide among the hallways of horror inside the eight extreme mazes. You are surrounded. At Worlds of Fun, #WeOwnFear.

The amount of detail and attention that goes into our haunted attractions is incredible. Placement of fog machines, location of props, specific uses for lighting – everything is thought out, and every little piece has a purpose. However, it can be easy to miss when you have your eyes clenched shut and head buried in the back of a complete stranger. But have no fear, here are six fun details to check out during your next visit through our enchanted scream park.

6) Paintings in Blood on the Bayou

Blood on the Bayou is one of our most detailed and elaborate haunted houses. Each scene and each room are carefully laid out with a variety of realistic props and themed décor. My favorite aspect of this maze is the custom paintings that hang throughout.

5) Hilarious Zombie High

If you follow Worlds of Fun on social media, you know I’m a big fan of puns, and Zombie High is full of them. As you make your way through the school, check out the clever writing on the blackboards and on the walls.

4) Orient Express Vampires

The Orient Express was a steel roller coaster located in the Orient section of Worlds of Fun from 1980 to 2003. The ride’s station is now being used in Lore of the Vampire. You can even walk through the turnstiles as you make your way through the second part of the maze.

There are also some really good "ads" on the wall.

3) BloodShed via Blue Bronco

Prospector’s Burritos and Cantina was formally Blue Bronco, a BBQ restaurant located in the Wild West section of the park. If you make your way up on the hill of BloodShed, you may notice that the old blue truck was once used as a prop outside the old dining location.

2) You’re Not in Kansas Anymore

Follow the yellow brick road to Cyclone Sam’s and you may notice that you’re not in Kansas anymore. Dorthey, the Wicked Witch of the West, the Scarecrow and the Tin Man are on display as skeletons – truly proving that there’s no place like home.

1) Tombstones

Marked tombstones are located throughout the park. Be sure to take a closer look at what’s been engraved. Tributes to old horror movies and mischievous puns prove that you can be six-feet under and still own a sense of humor.
