Job Title: Manager – Security

Job Summary:
 The Worlds of Fun Security Manager manages and coordinates all activities that relate to the physical security and protection of the assets of the company, employees and guests. This associate ensures the safe operation of the company’s parking lots and the provision of guest service by all Security Department Patrol employees.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Develops and, upon Director's approval, oversees the implementation of a plan for the park's security patrol program that will ensure employee and guest safety as well as their compliance with all federal, state and local laws and ordinances.
  •  Coordinates and participates in the recruiting, interviewing and selection of employees for the park's Security Patrol Department through on-site interviewing and through off-site school visits and job fairs. Manages the development, preparation and implementation of effective training programs for these staff members to ensure highest levels of safety, service, courtesy, cleanliness and integrity. Oversees the scheduling and supervision of these employees. Coaches, counsels and, when necessary, disciplines employees.
  • Manages the enforcement of all federal, state and city laws and ordinances on company property. Physically participates in the apprehension of individuals suspected of infractions and takes appropriate action including detention, ejection from park property, etc. Responds to calls involving guest or employee illnesses and accidents; investigates and assists in providing emergency medical treatment as directed by park Safety employees. Completes reports on all incidents.
  • Acts as liaison between the Security Department, other park departments, and outside law enforcement and emergency services agencies to ensure an open line of communication and the appropriate levels of support and response during special events or emergency situations.
  • Develops the Security Patrol Department expense and labor budgets; ensures compliance by monitoring department expenses and seasonal labor levels and takes corrective action when appropriate.
Qualifications include but are not limited to:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and the knowledge that is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in corporate security or law enforcement management.
  • The ability to be commissioned through the KCPD Board of Police Commissioners as an Armed Uniformed Patrol Agent and to maintain such commission.
  • A thorough knowledge of law enforcement methods and of all pertinent federal, state and city laws and ordinances.
  • The ability to run, tolerate oleoresin capsicum spray and subdue a violent person by manipulation of pressure points and pain compliance techniques.
  • Must provide, maintain and qualify annually on own registered firearm.
  • Must provide own body armor (vest) and wear such vest at all times when carrying a firearm on company property.
  • The ability to lift and carry a 200-pound person 50 feet.
  • The ability to climb to and work at a height of 310 feet in the event of a ride shutdown or emergency.

Job Title: Electrician

Job summary:
To maintain all electrical components of the park’s rides and equipment including lighting.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Through walking and climbing along all areas of the parks’ electrical rides and attractions inspects all areas through visual and auditory observations to ensure safe and proper operation. Through visual and auditory observation, inspects the parks’ other electrical equipment to ensure safe and proper operation. Communicates concerns to supervisor and/or, using own judgment, makes or directs others to make necessary repairs. Logs and documents all safety checks and repairs.
  • Maintains all park lighting by repairing fixtures and replacing incandescent, fluorescent lamps, and LED modules when necessary. Includes working on scaffolding and ladders.
  • From blueprints, drawings, models or verbal instructions, performs general electrical work; changing transformers, running conduit, and pulling wire using a variety of hand and power tools and standard measuring instruments. Makes standard shop computations relating to dimension of work. Selects material(s) necessary for the work.
  • Maintains ride inspection logs and sheets through noncomplex filing systems.
Qualifications include but are not limited to:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four or more years of journeyman electrician experience and a thorough knowledge of the National Electricians’ Code plus two or more years of experience with programmable logic controllers.
  • Welding and soldering skills.
  • Ability to work with varying voltages up to and including 12,470 volts.
  • Ability to climb to and work at a height of 310 feet for observation of, maintenance of and possible evacuation of park rides.
  • Ability to become familiar with and properly use fall protection equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry 100 pounds in the repair or installation of equipment.
Physical demands include:
  • Year-round outdoor work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Walking and standing on concrete and asphalt for extended periods of time.
  • Exposure to gasoline and other petroleum products, fiberglass dust, welding materials, oxygen, acetylene, propane,
    cleaning solvents, and paint fumes.

Job Title: Fiberglasser

To maintain the parks’ rides and equipment in the area of fiberglass.

  • From blueprints, drawings, model or verbal instructions, performs general fiberglass, auto body and spray booth work using a variety of hand and power tools and standard measuring instruments. Makes standard shop computations relating to dimension of work. Selects materials necessary for the work.
Qualifications include but are not limited to:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years commercial fiberglassing experience. Mold-making experience preferred for natural transition into the position.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate not only with senior management but also with seasonal employees in resolving problems. Communicates with individuals both inside and outside the company.
  • Basic analytical skills necessary to organize work load to establish priorities.
  • Ability to climb and to work at a height of 205 feet when working on rides and attractions.
  • Ability to become familiar with and use fall protection equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds in the repair or installation of equipment.
  • Ability to read materials (including blueprints and drawings) to interpret and analyze content.

  • Performs general labor such as crafting materials, building fences and roughing in framing.
Qualifications include but are not limited to:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years professional carpentry experience from framing to finish.
  • Ability to climb and work at a height of 205 feet in the installation or repair of some rides and attractions.
  • Ability to lift and carry 100 pounds in the repair or installation of equipment.
  • Ability to use fall protection equipment.
Physical demands include but are not limited to:
  • Year-round outdoor work including weekends in extreme weather conditions.

Job Title: Area Manager – Catering

Job Summary:
 We are searching for the right individual to manage the overall operation of catered events at Worlds of Fun including preparation, service and clean-up. This individual will ensure that all food and beverage products offered are of the highest quality, that divisional and park standards are met at all times, and that the highest profit margins possible are achieved without sacrificing any Cedar Fair Cornerstone.

The essential duties this individual will perform include:
  • Working closely with the Group Sales staff, the Executive Chef, the Food Warehouse Manager and the seasonal Catering staff, ensure the appropriate menu is properly prepared and served promptly at each catered event. This includes reviewing scheduled events, managing client relations, and evaluating guest satisfaction. Accompany Sales Representatives on client calls when appropriate to help plan events. Manage and participate in the execution of catered events which may include multiple and/or overlapping functions, each with a different menu.
  • Recruit, interview, select, train, and supervise the park’s seasonal Catering staff to ensure their food handling, preparation and presentation is of the highest quality. Give direction to these associates regarding specific event planning and execution. Coach, counsel and (when necessary) discipline seasonal Food associates documenting as appropriate.
  • Under the direction of the Executive Chef, identify, develop and implement new catering menu options to assist Group Sales in achieving their catered event goals. Closely monitor cost of goods through food waste control systems.
For consideration, candidates must have the following qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or the equivalent and the knowledge that is normally acquired through an Associate degree in Food & Beverage Management, Hospitality Management or other related field.
  • Two or more years of hands-on professional culinary experience to include menu development, food preparation, and food presentation.
  • Two or more years related experience in the theme park, hospitality, entertainment or travel industry.
  • Knowledge of all Kansas City, Missouri Health and Safety Codes/Regulations and the ability to acquire and maintain a Kansas City, Missouri Health Department Food Handler's Permit.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a valid liquor license.
  • Knowledge of food preparation, service and quality; menu devopment; and labor and food cost controls.
  • Management skills and the ability to train, supervise, and motivate service staff. Understanding of and ability to enforce all pertinent labor laws including those pertaining to minor labor.
  • Ability to operate standard office machines as well as equipment listed:
    • Standard commercial food service equipment: ovens, fryers, grills, coffee machines, steamers, dishwashers, slicers, etc.
