WinterFest Returns For Third Season at Worlds of Fun
Open Select Nights from November 23 through December 31
KANSAS CITY, MO – The transformation into a winter wonderland is complete, and Worlds of Fun is ready to kick off the holidays with the third season of WinterFest. On Saturday, November 23, the park will flip the switch on Kansas City’s largest collection of lights and holiday décor and open its gates for another year of festivities and celebration.
“The response from our guests has been outstanding, and WinterFest has quickly grown into one of our most popular events,” said Tony Carovillano, general manager and vice president of Worlds of Fun. “We’ve continued to draw people in from all over the region, and I think most are impressed by the sheer scope of the event and the overall quality of the entertainment we provide. We go all out. There’s nothing like it in Kansas City.”
Worlds of Fun has been preparing and decorating for WinterFest since early October, finding ways to hide the merry in the scary of Halloween Haunt. With over five million lights, a seven-story tree, 10 themed areas and miles of décor, the transition is no easy feat.
“There’s so much that goes into an event like WinterFest. From reconcepting all of our dining locations and crafting almost 20 new food items to casting our entertainers and designing all the sets and stages, it’s a race to opening, but our team pulls it off and takes great pride in what we’re able to deliver,” said Carovillano.
While there are select rides open, WinterFest is less about the thrill seeking attractions and more about the family entertainment. The event features the park’s largest live entertainment billing with seven original shows and dozens of strolling characters. It also provides ice skating, horse-drawn carriage rides, a live nativity petting zoo and various interactive experiences designed for families.
Worlds of Fun is open for WinterFest on select nights through December 31, where they cap off the event with a wholesome New Year’s Eve celebration and fireworks. Guests can get unlimited visits and free parking to WinterFest with the purchase of a 2020 Gold Season Pass, which also includes all of next season with Oceans of Fun and the of the world’s longest mat racing water slide, Riptide Racewaay.
