Worlds of Fun Reopening Protocols

When Worlds of Fun opens, we want you to have an AMAZING day and feel safe when visiting, so we developed an extensive coronavirus reopening plan – new processes and procedures throughout the park to help reduce the spread of germs. We’re all in this together and by working together you can safely and confidently enjoy the thrills, giggles and endless smiles that only Worlds of Fun can deliver.

This page provides you with essential information you will need before arriving at Worlds of Fun, what you’ll see and experience when you arrive and how to make the most of your visit—safely—when you get here.

Changes from Last Season:

  • Reservations will only be required for visiting Oceans of Fun Waterpark. Both Season Passholders and Single Day Ticketholders will need reservations.
  • Temperature checks for guests have been discontinued at the front gate.
  • The health screen questionnaire will be conducted by associates at the front gate and will not be through the Worlds of Fun mobile app.
  • There will be no limitations to ride capacity.
  • Guests aged 6 years and older are required to wear face coverings while indoors, unless actively eating and drinking. Face coverings are not required outdoors unless it is not possible to maintain 6’ of social distancing. Face coverings should completely cover the nose and mouth, and not have exhalation valves or vents, which allow virus particles to escape.
  • To improve your safety, Worlds of Fun will be going cashless this season, accepting VISA, Mastercard, Discover and American Express cards as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay. In addition, we'll be adding Cash-to-Card Kiosks throughout the park for those needing to convert cash into a prepaid card at no cost. Learn More

What happens if I do not have a reservation when I come to Oceans of Fun?

Both Season Passholders and Single Day Ticket guests will need to make a reservation prior to visiting Oceans of Fun. Guests who are not planning to enjoy the waterpark during their visit do not need to make a reservation.

If you arrive at the park without a reservation, please visit Guest Services to inquire about availability. We will accommodate you if possible, but there is no guarantee.

Will you continue with the health screening questions?

Yes, the health screen questionnaire will continue to be required for all guests and park associates prior to entering the park.

Why are you discontinuing temperature checks, except where required by state or local jurisdictions?

The health and safety of our guests and associates remains our top priority. After consulting with medical experts and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we have decided to discontinue temperature checks, except where required by state or local jurisdictions. The pandemic has shown temperature screening will not be completely effective because individuals who have no symptoms associated with COVID-19, or those with mild non-specific symptoms, may not realize they are infected and may pass through screening.

Why were temperature checks necessary last year?

One of the things we’ve learned in this pandemic, and it’s been talked about a lot over the past year, is that a lot of people transmit the virus with no symptoms or fever. As noted above, the pandemic has shown temperature screening will not be completely effective because individuals who have no symptoms associated with COVID-19, or those with mild non-specific symptoms, may not realize they are infected and may pass through screening. As more is learned and understood about COVID-19, guidelines and recommendations from the CDC and others have evolved.

Are all rides and attractions at Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun open?

Download the Worlds of Fun app for ride availability and select ride wait times.

I’ve been fully vaccinated. Why do I have to wear a face covering?

According to the CDC, it’s important for everyone to continue using all the tools available to help stop this pandemic as we learn more about how vaccines will affect the spread of COVID-19. To protect yourself and others, CDC recommends taking precautions in public places such as wearing a face covering over your mouth and nose, staying at least 6 feet away from others, avoiding poorly ventilated spaces, and washing your hands often.

I already had COVID-19. Why do I need to wear a face covering?

According to the CDC, it’s important for everyone to continue using all the tools available to help stop this pandemic as we learn more about how vaccines will affect the spread of COVID-19. The CDC also said it’s still evaluating reinfection risks. While relatively rare, reinfection has happened, and the virus continues to spread and develop variants, some of which have been more contagious than previous strains.

Are there exceptions to the face covering requirement?

Children under the age of five are not required to wear face coverings.  Also, under provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA),  guests who have disabilities that prohibit wearing a face covering will not be required to wear one.

How often are you cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, toilets, and sinks?

Per our normal operating guidelines and in compliance with the CDC, we are routinely cleaning and sanitizing our restrooms throughout the day.

Can I exit and re-enter the park on the same day?

You may exit and re-enter the park. You will need to obtain a re-entry voucher at the exit and get your picture taken (we will no longer use hand stamps), and will need to go through the entry procedures again and metal detection. The health assessment completed prior to the first entry will be valid for the full day, but you will need to show your re-entry ticket to enter again.

Once I am in the park, how long can I stay?

You are welcome to stay as long as you like until the park closes for the day.
