A Day to Help our Community
Worlds of Fun is known for bringing fun and thrills, but on this day our team brought help to support some amazing organizations in our community. On the inaugural Worlds of Love Day of Service, nearly a hundred Worlds of Fun employees left the park to go out into the community and lend a helping hand to different groups that provide life-changing programs to people in need.
At a pair of homes, one in Excelsior Springs and one in Liberty, the talented members of our Maintenance Department worked with Rebuilding Together Kansas City. They used their talents to rebuild the floor of a home and install framing and ductwork in a basement. Rebuilding Together Kansas City, "is focused on transforming the homes and lives of low-income families, seniors, people living with disabilities, and veterans."
To the South, a group comprised of a variety of different departments sorted food and clothing for Community Services League in Independence. Their missions, "To assist communities in reaching their potential by providing immediate relief to people in need, assessing their situations, and providing solutions that lead to economic stability."
Dozens of volunteers sifted through cans and boxes of food at the Harvesters Community Food Network distribution center in Kansas City. Harvesters is one of the largest nonprofit organizations in the area with a, "mission to feed hungry people today and work to end hunger tomorrow." The regional food bank serves a 26-county area of northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas.
The final group brought the holiday spirit at Synergy Services to some of the youngest and most vulnerable members of our community. They helped decorate the Synergy Youth Resiliency Center just a few miles from the park. Synergy Services strives to, "assist individuals and families with immediate respite from violence, and [provide] services which empower clients to find and choose good options for future safety and success."
These organiztions are as diverse as our community but they all have the same goal: to help people. Whether it's sawing wood or packing meal kits, these groups do amazing work, and we are lucky to have them in our community.
