Zambezi Zinger Construction Updates
August 11, 2022: Worlds of Fun and Cedar Fair announced a re-imagined Zambezi Zinger roller coaster, with one-of-a-kind Titan Track lift hill, Great Coasters International track and Infinity Flyer trains from Skyline Attractions. Project slated to open during Worlds of Fun's 50th Anniversary season in 2023. Zambezi Zinger sign placed on original ZZ queue house, which will be utilized when the new ride opens in 2023.
August 12, 2022: Land and tree clearing began on ZZ site behind Boomerang in Africa region.
August 24, 2022: Original Zambezi Zinger tunnel unearthed.
September 20, 2022: First lumber shipments from Great Coasters International arrived at Worlds of Fun.
October 13, 2022: All wood and steel materials delivered from Great Coasters International.
October 28, 2022: GCI installation began.
November 15, 2022: Infinity Flyer trains unveiled at IAAPAExpo in Orlando, FL.
December 12, 2022: GCI begins construction on TitanTrack spiral lift hill at headquarters in Philadelphia, PA.
January 3, 2023: Construction on final brake run and station house begins.
January 13, 2023: TitanTrack spiral lift hill from GCI arrives at Worlds of Fun.
January 17, 2023: Concrete piers for spiral lift hill begin installation.
January 20, 2023: Updated track progress.
February 8, 2023: Construction of mid-course tunnel begins.
March 1, 2023: Spiral lift hill goes vertical.
March 7, 2023: Spiral TitanTrack lift hill installation begins.
March 13, 2023: Landscaping begins.
March 30, 2023: Worlds of Fun announced a targeted timeline of late spring for the opening of Zambezi Zinger.
April 7, 2023: Spiral lift hill topped off. Titan Track portion of ride circuit completed.
April 8, 2023: Zambezi Zinger's gift shop, Safari Trading Co., opens in Morocco.
April 18, 2023: Main drop completed.
April 21, 2023: Tire drive installation begins on spiral lift hill.
May 4, 2023: Track circuit completed.
May 5, 2023: Zinger trains arrive on site and placed on the track.
May 6, 2023: Zambezi Zinger goes over-the-top for its first test cycle.
May 11, 2023: Worlds of Fun announces an opening date of May 26, 2023 for Zambezi Zinger.
May 16, 2023: Theming and concrete pouring begins in queue line.
