Worlds of Fun's Third Annual Day of Service

Every winter, during our off season, the Worlds of Fun staff looks forward to what has quickly become the most anticipated annual event for our employees. Last Friday the Worlds of Fun team brought the FUN into the community for our third annual Worlds of Love Day of Service. Employees from every division at Worlds of Fun lent a helping hand to three different local charities that provide life-changing resources to people in need. 

The Worlds of Fun maintenance crew, as well as employees from other departments, sorted clothing for the Community Services League Christmas Store in Independence. Worlds of Fun aligns well with the CSL purpose, “To make meaningful and lasting change in people’s lives.” Our employees seek to fulfill this purpose not only during the season, but also through their work in the off-season.

Dozens of volunteers from HR as well as other departments sifted through cans and boxes of food at the Harvesters Community Food Network distribution center in Kansas City. Harvesters is one of the largest nonprofit organizations in the area with a, "mission to feed hungry people today and work to end hunger tomorrow." The regional food bank serves a 26-county area of northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas.

Our foods department, along with others, made their way to the heart of Kansas City where they sorted toys and clothes at Children's Mercy. Around this time of year, Children's Mercy begins prepping for their Snowflake Shoppe, "where parents and caregivers can select gifts for children in the hospital, and their family members, at no cost, all without leaving the building." Our team also received a generous tour of the hopsital where they learned about all the different ways support can be given during the holiday season.

The Worlds of Fun Team is extremely grateful to be given the opportunity to give back to our community and serve those who need it most! We strongly encourage those thinking about volunteering with these or other local organizations this holiday season to give it a try!
