'Tis the season for charitable giving, and Worlds of Fun had the opportunity to work with some great organizations during WinterFest. Take a look, and see how you can help support the impactful work these partners do for our community in Kansas City.

Children’s Mercy

Tuesday, November 27 was #GivingTuesday, and Worlds of Fun spent the day delivering smiles with Snoopy at Children’s Mercy Hospital. In addition to making the rounds and making new friends, our associates also assembled and donated Happy Kits, which are care packages used in a variety of areas throughout the hospital and clinics to make the patients and families feel welcome and happy during their visit. Contents included coloring materials, headphones, stickers, activity books and reading material.

Children’s Mercy is a non-profit hospital that relies on the generosity of donors, volunteers and supporters to provide care for children in the surrounding Kansas City area. Click here to learn more about the many ways you can help support Children’s Mercy.

Toys for Tots

During December, the associates of Worlds of Fun took part in a toy drive from Toys for Tots of Greater Kansas City, which is a U.S. Marine Corps Reserve program that collects and distributes unwrapped toys to less fortunate children in the community. Toys are accepted during October, November and December, but monetary donations are accepted in a variety of ways year-round.

Congrats to our Ugly Sweater Contest winner! Also a huge thanks to GySgt Roger Ruiz from Toys for Tots for helping us judge. #WinterFestKC pic.twitter.com/PFg0rj3vvZ

Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City

On Thursday, December 20, Worlds of Fun welcomed hundreds of children and family members from the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City for a night of festive fun at WinterFest. The night was kicked off with a special Tree Lighting Ceremony with Vanesa R. doing the honors of flipping the switch on our 70-foot tree. Vanesa was named Youth of the Year at the Boys & Girls Club of Kansas City and was a regional finalist for the Boys and Girls Club of America’s National Youth of the Year competition. The group finished the night with a catered meal and a night of WinterFest fun!

The Boys and Girls Club of Kansas City provides a fun, safe environment for kids to learn, play, grow and meet new friends. From sports to education, the Clubs provide quality programs to thousands of area kids every day.

From volunteering to donating, there are many ways to help support the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City. Click here to see how you can get involved.

Variety KC

Variety Children’s Charity of Greater Kansas City provides children with developmental disabilities the adaptive equipment and opportunities needed for activity and inclusion. This includes building accessible parks in our community, so every kid has the opportunity to go outside and play. We recently made a monitory donation to this great organization and will honor them during this Sunday's Tree Lighting Ceremony.

From making a donation, champing a fundraiser or volunteering, there are many ways to support Variety Children’s’ Charity of Greater Kansas City. Click here to learn more.

Worlds of Fun is proud to give back to the community through in-kind donations for charitable and non-profit organizations and fundraising special events. Visit our Community page to learn more.
