Grand Carnivale: Know Before You Go

McKenzie Koppe

This is McKenzie’s fifth season with Cedar Fair Entertainment, and her first in the marketing department. She is a junior at the University of Central Missouri pursuing a major in Digital Media Production with a minor in Public Relations. She's proud to be coaster nerd friendly.

When she’s not at the park… well, she’s probably at the park.

Worlds of Fun is taking “Around the World in 80 Days” to the next level at Grand Carnivale! Each night from 5:00 PM to close from July 13 through August 4, you can celebrate the rich traditions of Germany, India, France, Italy and China. From sampling authentic food and drinks to taking in worldly performances and making unique arts and crafts, there is so much to see and do at Grand Carnivale. Here are three ways you can make the most of your night at this larger-than-life festival.

Be Entertained

Dance the night away with non-stop live entertainment at various locations throughout the park. Featuring lively bands, talented solo artists and unique performers, each country will take guests on a high-energy musical journey.

The party really heats up during the Spectacle of Color Parade, which starts each night at 8:00 p.m. on Front Street. This extravagant procession features several decorated floats, over 100 performers and rhythms of cultures around the world. The parade begins with a welcome from the shimmering King of Carnivale float and is followed by a giant Indian elephant float created solely out of drums.

The parade makes its way towards International Plaza for its conclusion, but the entertainment is not over yet. The end of the Spectacle of Color Parade marks the launch of the Carnivale Street Party. Taking place at International Plaza, this party features bright lights and an interactive dance party until capping off the festivities with some fireworks as the park closes for the night.

Learn Something New

Another way to celebrate cultures all around the world is by learning about them. At Grand Carnivale, Ambassadors will give guests an up close and personal look at what makes each country special. Whether it’s visualizing what a visit to India is like or exploring the food and wine culture of Italy, there is always a chance to immerse yourself in the different countries of Grand Carnivale.

Where can these countries be found?

Kids have the chance to make their own arts and crafts in each country. Creations that can be made include Chinese paper lanterns, Carnivale crowns, colorful beaded bracelets and masks. In addition to Carnivale Crafts, kids can embark on the Adventure Club Challenge. This expedition is filled with puzzles to solve and stamps to earn, to ultimately be awarded an official Adventure Club badge.

Let Your Taste Buds Guide You

Take a culinary tour around the world with Worlds of Fun's 15 special food selections. From German Apple Strudel to Italian Meatballs, guests are treated to a taste of each country. In addition to the food options, there will be multiple samples of wine and beer paired with each country’s cusine.

Guests can enjoy six tastings of their choice with the purchase of a Grand Carnivale Tasting Card. The card can be purchased in the park at any of the Grand Carnivale food booths, as well as online or on the Worlds of Fun mobile app.

Come celebrate what makes Germany, India, France, Italy, and China so unique at Grand Carnivale, the largest summer event in Worlds of Fun history!
