September 6, 2023

Summer has ended, meaning it is now time for Worlds of Fun to make it's annual terrifying transformation into the Midwest's largest Halloween celebration. Overlord's Awakening, dreadful mazes, monstrous walkthrough scarezones, delicious treats and refreshing beverages await you.

Before you enter the park, be sure to prepare for your visit with this year's inside info...

What’s new for ‘23

Haunt will feature many new elements this year. Be sure to hit our new scare zones and outdoor mazes. New attractions for 2023 include Pumpkin Eater: Dead Harvest (maze), Ringmaster’s Last Laff (nighttime live show), Zombie Boo-ffet (dining experience), and Spectral Sisters (daytime live show).

HAUNT is a Special Ticketed Event

In a change from previous years, Halloween Haunt will be a stand-alone event requiring a separate ticket. Guests who wish to experience Worlds of Fun during the daytime, prior to the start of Haunt, can purchase a combination ticket from the Worlds of Fun website that provides entry to both fall events. However, guests will still need to exit the park at 5 p.m. as park staff work to transition the park from daytime to nighttime operations. Re-entry will begin as early as 5:30 p.m. for guests who want to experience both daytime and nighttime fun and thrills.

As always, both Halloween Haunt and daytime admission are included for 2023 Gold and Platinum season passes. In addition, 2024 Gold season passes are now on sale. Guests who purchase a 2024 Gold Pass receive unlimited visits for the rest of 2023 and 2024.

Keep reading for more information on how the park will transition from daytime fun to nighttime horror.

Daytime Park Closing

  • All rides and attractions will stop operating at 5PM. Rides that have longer lines will be closed in advance to allow all guests in line to ride before/by 5PM.
  • All guests must either exit the park or purchase admission to attend the Boo-ffet in the Grand Pavilion.
  • Guests will be directed to a separate exit path to take when leaving the park at 5PM. This will allow a smooth transition for guests who are simultaneously entering for the park reopen at 6PM. Guests who plan to attend both events will be screened again before being allowed to enter for Haunt.

Haunt Opening

  • Once Gateway Gardens is clear, guests will be allowed to enter the plaza and wait at block points until the park officially opens at 6PM.
  • Indoor Haunt attractions will open at 6:30PM (excluding guests with early Boo-ffet access).
  • Overlord’s Awakening will take place at 7:00PM.
  • Outdoor mazes and scare zones will open at the conclusion of the Haunt parade (approximately 7:30PM)

Zombie Boo-ffet

An added feature of this year’s Halloween HAUNT is the Zombie Boo-ffet, an immersive feast that occurs as the park transitions from day to night, starting at 4 p.m., that also includes early access to Zombie High and Prowler starting at 5:30 p.m. Guests can purchase a Boo-ffet ticket for $45. Worlds of Fun Gold Passholders receive a $10 discount.

Try our Ghoulish Delights

From Our mystifying Adult Beverages to Desert Funnel Cakes, there are options for all Ghosts, Ghouls, Witches and Wizards. New shakes, desserts, and another non-alcoholic blood bag have joined our HAUNT foods lineup this year. Stay tuned for our 2023 HAUNT Foodie Guide for a full list of all the scary good food we have to offer this HAUNT season.

Fright Lane and Fast Lane are combined and unlimited

Two separate passes are not required to skip lines at Haunt attractions. Fright Lane and Fast Lane are one in the same and are completely unlimited during Haunt.

‘No boo’ passes are available for children and those with sensory conditions

To ensure everyone enjoys HAUNT, “no boo” passes are available for those who are easily startled or have a sensory condition. Our monsters won’t bother you when they see these special necklaces.

Longtime Worlds of Fun guests know that when the sun goes down, the thrill level goes up. View the lit-up KC skyline from Mamba, twist and turn through the foggy darkness on Zinger, dash through a moonlit forest on Prowler.

Chaperone Policy

All guests ages 15-years-old or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21-years-old in order to be admitted to, or remain in, the park for Halloween Haunt. The chaperone must present a valid government-issued photo identification with date of birth at ticket entry.

One (1) chaperone may accompany no more than ten (10) guests ages 15 or younger per day. In addition, the chaperone must accompany their party during entry, remain inside the park during their visit, and be available by phone throughout their stay. Guests ages 15 years old or younger who are found inside the park unaccompanied by a chaperone will be subject to ejection.
