HAUNT Returns as Worlds of Fun Competes in American Royal
Kansas City, MO – Halloween HAUNT at Worlds of Fun is back this Friday. The largest Halloween attraction in the Midwest begins at 6 p.m. and ends at midnight every Friday and Saturday night in September. In October, HAUNT is expanded to Thursday nights with limited attractions, and runs three nights a week through October 30th. HAUNT is a frightening experience and not recommended for children under 14. There is no re-entry into the park after 8 p.m., even with a hand stamp.
Halloween HAUNT will feature more than 400 monsters, 13 extreme haunted attractions and dozens of thrilling rides through Worlds of Fun. All new this HAUNT is the redone outdoor fright experience, “Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater.“ This attraction will lead guests on the terrifying trail along Peter’s once wholesome pumpkin patch.
This is the first year of HAUNT since 2019. All guests will be required to follow health safety guidelines, including wearing face coverings indoors where social distancing cannot be maintained. To encourage cleanliness, Worlds of Faun is cashless this season. Additionally, the HAUNT Attraction Map & Guide will only be available digitally, on the Worlds of Fun website and app.
Tickets to HAUNT start at $39.99 and admission is included with a 2021 or 2022 Season Pass, which is on sale now for $89.99.
The same weekend HAUNT begins, Worlds of Fun will be competing at the American Royal for the first time ever. Under the name of the new park restaurant, “Cotton Blossom BBQ,” the Worlds of Fun Food & Beverage Department is in the Open Meats Contest. Lead by Executive Chef Wesley Boston and Pitmaster Chris Borden, the team is going for the Grand Champion title, submitting all four meats, Chicken, Pork Ribs, Pork and Brisket. The team and restaurant are named after the paddleboat, “Cotton Blossom,” which was one of the three boats that were among the attractions that opened with Worlds of Fun in 1973.
Despite it being their first competition, the team is confident. “Our product is just as good as any of the big-name BBQ joints in Kansas City. We belong at the same table,” said Chef Wesely.
