Adding a World of Beauty

April 11, 2018

Worlds of Fun is just days away from opening on April 21. It will be the parks’ 45th year of creating memories in America’s heartland, and in addition to our new ride Nordic Chaser and Timber Wolf’s new finale, we’re also adding several enhancements throughout the park to improve our guests’ experience.

Among these enhancements include noticeable upgrades to World of Fun’s aesthetics, including the reintroduction of a park landmark and the addition of a grand fountain that will serve as the centerpiece in the historic Front Street section of the park.

The Worlds of Fun Floral Clock

When Worlds of Fun opened in 1973, a floral clock was built into the hillside adjacent from Moulin Rouge. It quickly became a staple of the park, due to its beauty and ability to help guests track time before cell phones were the go-to pocket watch. The clock was taken out in 1996.

After a 22-year hiatus, the floral clock will return in 2018. The botanical showpiece will be similar to the original floral clock’s design that once stood in the same location, only adding to Worlds of Fun’s natural beauty. Both longtime and new guests will surely appreciate its classic beauty.

In addition to roller coasters, rides and delicious dining, the work of our grounds crew will be hard to miss this season. They’ve been putting in a lot of work to ensure the park is in tip-top shape for another season of family fun.

New Fountain - Americana

Kansas City is known as the City of Fountains, so it is only fitting for Worlds of Fun to incorporate our hometown’s historic icon. The new Worlds of Fun fountain will be a centerpiece of the Americana section of the park, replacing the previous fountain. Now larger and more extravagant, it will really add to the area’s classic, elegant charm.

The new fountain will feature a large, star-shaped centerpiece and a cascading water display that will shoot water atop large, star-shaped granite pieces. The new fountain on Front Street will not only honor our hometown - but will also celebrate our park’s history.

Words of Fun exclusive: The ol' Liberty Bell will also be returning to Americana!

What Else is New?

Worlds of Fun will also be adding free/park-wide WiFi, a new/improved mobile app, new menu items/dining locations from our culinary team, new additions to Haunt/WinterFest and various other guest enhancements. For more information on these additions, stay tuned to our new blog, “Words of Fun.” In the meantime, feel free to browse our new Worlds of Fun Park Map to prepare for your first visit this season!
