When the park is closed, Fury of the Nile becomes a training facility for local water rescue teams. The attraction’s rushing waters and torrents provide a safe environment for first responders to develop skills that can be used to save lives.

Kansas City first responders train for water rescue by using Fury of the Nile

The Fury of the Nile is a water raft ride that features waterfalls, waves and turns. Water rescuers use these elements to simulate various conditions of a flash flood. Since the attraction is a controlled environment, it becomes the perfect tool for training exercises.

Experienced and novice rescuers also use this time to practice and test new techniques. Trainees typically make up about half of the class, and the hands-on training gives them realistic practice for quick situation assessment, decision making and tactical response.

Fury of the Nile is located in the Africa section at Worlds of Fun. Friends and family embark on an adventurous journey through 1,800-feet of waterfalls, tunnels and surprising splashes. In 2019, it was one of the most popular attractions in the park.

Worlds of Fun is proud to support the needs of our community’s firemen and policemen. Providing access to Fury of the Nile is just one example of the strong partnership we maintain with local first responders.
